Prompt: Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

During lunch one day, my friends started a huge group-chat argument about where to sit, and it was getting dramatic fast. I quietly muted the chat and slipped my phone into my backpack like it was about to explode. While everyone else kept arguing, I enjoyed my sandwich in peace. That moment made me realize that sometimes protecting your own sanity is the smartest move. Choosing to step back made the whole day way easier. Today we completed reading our short story. I learn how to answer questions based on short story.

Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

I have encounter many homeless people in my life especially if I go downtown. It makes me feel a bit sad because of how deep sometimes there in a hole. And other times I try to put myself in the situation and see what I could do to. I always hope that there life gets better. Sometimes you see disabled people homeless and I can always feel that it must be a lot harder for them which also saddens me. I just hope one day they all find out a way for a good life.  Today we read some of a new story which relate to a homeless man Today I learn how to answer questions based on reading.

Prompt: Write about what you are thankful for.

I am thankful for my family, my girlfriend, and basketball all these things/people. Have been and is a great impact in my life. I'm so thankful they are in my life and I don't think I would be where I'm at now without them. Each individually have impacted my life in different aspect. My family have always been there for me literally and my girlfriend has always drive me to be better and do better. Basketball has always been an outlet for me whenever I'm not quite in the mood.   Today we did vocab words and use them in sentence. I learn new words and how to use them

Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

I believe in a lot of situation I thought people were a lot meaner then they look. Even at this school I've seen people who look kind of mean and I usually wouldn't think of interrupting them but are very nice. Also noticing that a lot in players in basketball. We will sometimes go against bad teams thinking they would be humble but they trash talk the whole game so get a different view on people. It shows you can not judge or assume so much so quickly. Today we did a pop quiz about the story A Rose for Emily I learn how to analyze story and use it on a quiz,

Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

My dad in my life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline, My dad has always disciplined me to keep me away from all bad things. It made me more mature and more respectful to adult and understand concepts on a deeper level. This has help me quite a lot moving forward. My dad is someone who I think twice before doing I know he would be mad at. Today we did a group quiz on the story we read I learn how to use process of elimination and understood story more.

Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up? Explain what it was and why they might have set that rule.

Stuff my parents forbade me from doing while I was growing up is staying on a screen for so long. They wanted to prevent me from bad material on social media. I think the main reason why is because there is so many weird things and so easy to access. I think it was really smart of them to do such a thing and help me avoid from weird things to make me a more immature kid. I think growing up like that help me understand stuff more and keep me away from things I shouldn't know as a kid. They would limit apps and monitor me which I know sometimes seem way to locked up as a kid. I believe you do have to keep close eye because kids are always curious and who knows how I would be if I wandered on the internet. Also the fact I enjoy playing outside more Today we read a story and began to analyze it and began a project I learn how to analyze reading and connect it with me.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

I mean for me overall I like to use context clues. There is no specific word that specifically led me to helping me in reading. When I use overall context clues it helps me a read a lot. I do not know a lot advanced words and it it honestly helps me a lot. Learning new words help a lot in reading overtime as I grew up and how more advance the writing becomes Today we learned new vocabulary and learned how to use it We did vocabulary and exercises with it
