Prompt: Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?
During lunch one day, my friends started a huge group-chat argument about where to sit, and it was getting dramatic fast. I quietly muted the chat and slipped my phone into my backpack like it was about to explode. While everyone else kept arguing, I enjoyed my sandwich in peace. That moment made me realize that sometimes protecting your own sanity is the smartest move. Choosing to step back made the whole day way easier.
